General, Legacy ChallengeApril 25, 2005 8:07 pm

First I want to apologize for the fact that because WP keeps crashing my browser if I use the ‘post preview’ option in the advanced editor, I’ve been updating the stories piece by piece, which means that you might visit while a post is ‘in progress.’ I’ve been announcing new updates in my groups, but from now on I’m planning on putting together an update list like PRMami uses. This should be a more convenient way of allowing visitors to get updates of the stories without me having to worry that a lot of people will run into partial updates. That should be added to the links in just a few moments so that you can join if you choose to do so.

Additionally, I’m planning on putting together a page about writing stories with TS2 since there are some people out there who have commented that they have a difficult time doing it, and I feel as though I’m really getting the hang of it. Some of the ‘tricks’ I’m using have really helped me to get things going for my legacy families as far as their stories go and I think that these same tricks might help other people who want to get involved in the story writing process, whether they use a blog or the in-game story editor. That’s going to take awhile as I have one, possibly two more Du Lac updates I want to do within the next couple of days and I should also by then have another update on the Cornwells to share. Right now my updates are my priority!

I hope everyone is enjoying these families as much as I am! Thank you for visiting!

I have to admit that after a period of time, doing nothing but having babies and comparing them to one another becomes a bit drab and old. I knew that there was going to come a point when I’d be hankering to continue with the Legacy and that’s pretty much what’s happened except that there are other challenges that are exciting me now too.

Besides that I’ve had a stressful few days with a sick baby in the house and my pregnancy progressing to the point where I’m not feeling all that well most of the time too. I just needed a break from the science.

So I’ve restarted my Legacy for a few reasons: The most important was my NPC bug — I couldn’t even invite NPCs to the house so that I could reproduce with them and I had forgotten about community lots. In fact, the NPCs were acting as though they didn’t like my sims even though they were friends. Very confusing and difficult to deal with.

So I’m going to be reintroducing the Cornwell family as soon as I have enough pictures to make it worthwhile, and then go back to the experiment for a couple of offspring and post those results as well. Please keep checking back for updates!

I’ve already tried twice to post an update tonight. It was 2:30 am when I began and now it’s 3:30. I’m not going to try again :( I’ll reboot and make another attempt tomorrow! Sorry to anybody who was looking for an update today…

The Taylor Family wound up being a travesty of astronomical proportions. When Avril got pregnant the second time I wasn’t expecting her to die of the mysterious “pregnancy illness” but that’s what wound up happening. She went from a hunger score of 0 to dead in about ten sim minutes. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen this happen and it was very disappointing, but would have been salvagable if either of her parents were yet retired. No, instead, it left her daughter, Bethany, the heir apparent, home alone. Which meant she was taken by the social worker. Which means I lost both Generation 2 and Generation 3 at the same time and had only elders to try save the family. And let’s face it, I can’t produce a baby with just elders in the house :(

That means starting over. Again. This is the third or so time that I’ve had generation 2 mysteriously die. I thought I’d licked it when Generation 3 was born, but I suppose I should have just spent the money and hired a nanny. I’m disappointed now that I didn’t, but hopefully the next time around it’s going to go a bit better.

So… That being said I’ve created Camelot Cove, a romantic little neighborhood near Valley View, where tragedy so recently struck the Taylor Family. Guinevere Cornwell is our current heroine, the founder of a legacy… She has elf ears (yes, I found them!) custom brown hair and deep set grey eyes. I’ve designed her not necessarily to be beautiful but to be unusual looking. You’ll see pictures when I do the first chapter of the story.

I’ve decided this time around to just skip over the story while they are in college since it’s usually the same things repeatedly and not actually all that interesting. If I catch something great I might log it, but other than that… No college stories this time around. They will leave, come back, and continue their story if at all possible.
